Biography

Opera art, a voice without borders !

Manon Feubel has distinguished herself on some of the world’s most prestigious opera stages, carrying her voice and her talent to the heights of lyrical art. With an impressive career, her voice has resounded across several continents and in about fifteen countries, marking each stage and every audience with her intense and deeply moving interpretations.

She is regularly heard on stage with leading symphony orchestras, among them the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM/Charles Dutoit) in Honegger’s Le Roi David, as well as in major opera arias. She also appears in piano recitals, where she gives voice to the French mélodie and the German lied.

She has often performed Verdi’s Requiem, Strauss’s Four Last Songs, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été, Britten’s Les Illuminations, as well as many other works with chamber orchestras, including Massenet’s La Vierge, Sacchini’s Œdipe à Colone, and Charpentier’s Didon—a “Prix de Rome” composition—in which she sang the title role at Flagey in Belgium and in Venice, Italy.

In addition, the CD recording of Charpentier’s lyrical work, conducted by French maestro Hervé Niquet with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, was released by Glossa in collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru Zane.

Her repertoire includes leading and title roles such as Desdemona, Leonora (La Forza del Destino / Il Trovatore), Aida, Lucrezia, Elisabetta di Valois (Don Carlo – Italien version , and Don Carlos –  French version), Senta, Amelia, Wally, Tosca, Ariadne, Adriana Lecouvreur, Elvira, Pénélope, Mme Lidoine (Dialogues des Carmélites), Anita, the Comtesse, Liù, and many others.

She has performed these celebrated roles in prestigious venues such as La Scala in Milan, the Opéra Comique, the Salle Pleyel, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Konzerthaus in Vienne, Alice Tully Hall in New York (Lincoln Center), the Teatro Regio in Turin, Covent Garden in London, as well as at the festivals of Orange (Roman Amphitheatre, France) and Santander (Spain), among many others.

Moreover, Lucrezia marked the demanding beginnings of her career at the legendary La Scala in Milan, where she performed the particularly challenging role in this rarely staged opera. In a second appearance, she embodied the title role of Aida, in a production by Franco Zeffirelli under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim. She achieved great success there, warmly acclaimed by the opera’s management itself.

This rarely performed role of Lucrezia in Verdi’s I Due Foscari led her to perform not only in Milan, but also in  Vienna (Konzerthaus), alongside Leo Nucci, in a live broadcast by Vienna Radio conducted by Bertrand de Billy. She also sang this role in Dortmund, Germany, in duet with Renato Bruson, and in Paris at the prestigious Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, under the direction of Daniele Callegari, with the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, in a simultaneous broadcast on Radio France Musique.

The career of this Quebec soprano, originally from the province of  Quebec in Canada, began with a first recording of great opera arias entitled Chi il bel sogno, conducted by maestro Jacques Lacombe and recorded with the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval under the CBC Records label, which was nominated for a  Juno Award.

Passionate about musical composition, she writes and arranges her own works: her symphonic vocalises, which she presents and performs in recital or concert, either alone or with accompaniment.
